We recommend adding specific requirements that additional screening will be required of all ammonia-emitting developments, such as intensive livestock units, within 5km of an ancient woodland site.

Air quality at Cowfold is already compromised. Building at Mayfield and/or West Grinstead would make the Air Quality unacceptable.

We recognise the local concerns about air quality in Storrington in particular, and we have carefully assessed whether the development of the land at Adversane would have an impact on air quality. The evidence (presented in section 6 of our Transport and Infrastructure Statement, attached) shows that the impact on air quality of our development is not significant.

This policy is critical to the health of current & future residents in Horsham District. HDC must ensure development isn’t going to impact air quality on sites or the surrounding areas. Review proposed strategic sites to ensure impacts on AQMAs & air quality are highlighted & detrimental sites not developed. HDC need to include the missing Air Quality and Emissions Mitigation Guidance for Sussex (2019) in the Local Plan evidence base and use this when assessing proposed development sites.

How can development in Ashington be classed as sustainable, when residents will be almost wholly reliant upon use of the private car for anything but their day to day needs and even then, the current village shops and facilities are unlikely to cope. This is not achieving low carbon objectives.
