Summary | Ashington has a poor existing infrastructure and no plans to improve it, poor transport links and no plans to improve them, no healthcare facilities and no plans to add them, little consideration given to, and no community consultation, on any new community facilities. |
Comment | Ashington has a poor existing infrastructure and with no plans to improve it. The proposal of an additional 400 new homes, in addition to 225 new homes proposed in the neighbourhood plan sites is not sustainable in terms of transport. The increase in cars will lead to more congestion on the roads. Leading to poorer air quality for the residents and not good for the health of the local community. The doctor surgeries and dentistry are all accessed outside of the village of Ashington, and there are no plans for this to change. An increase of 600 new homes is detrlmental to the village structure, road networks, welfare and lives of the residents of Ashington. |
Proposed Change | Neighbourhood plans sites propose 225 new homes and is still a significant number. The additional 400 new homes being proposed to this is not and will lead to too much pressure on the infrastructure and poorer health for the community residents. |
